Principal’s Message
Welcome to Marion Catholic Primary School Horsley Park, serving the parish of Our Lady of Victories and wider community of Horsley Park.
Our motto of ‘Sowing seeds for success and growing through Mary’s love’ is supported through the encouragement to see learning as a lifelong experience.
I believe we are here to support every child and every family in their spiritual and academic growth.
When you enrol your child into Marion Catholic Primary School, we will embrace your entire family into our community.
My staff are passionate educators who deliver contemporary learning in our modern and spacious environments.
A shared vision for learning has been implemented into our school in Literacy and Numeracy, underpinning teaching and learning in our school in every key learning area.
We have high expectations of all students, with a focus on developing them as independent learners, ready for their future.
At Marion Catholic Primary School we live out the gospel values of love, justice and compassion everyday. We encourage engagement with the wider community academically, socially and spiritually, and pride ourselves on being stewards for our environment who are actively involved in community projects throughout the year.
Please take the time to view all of the information on this website and I look forward to meeting you and your family soon.
Julie Straub
Principal
In 1980, Fr Philip Gambin was appointed parish priest of Our Lady of Victories Church, Horsley Park and saw that there was a need for a Catholic primary school in the parish.
On the first day of school in February 1982, 48 students arrived with their parents, comprising of 24 in Kindergarten and 24 in Year 1. Sr Catherine O’Brien (of the Sisters of Charity) was the founding principal of Marion Catholic Primary School Horsley Park.
By 1987, Marion was a complete primary school, with classes from Kindergarten to Year 6. 1987 was also the year that the school prayer was written in honour of Mary.
Marion Catholic Primary School Horsley Park is founded on the charism of the Sisters of Charity.
Within the mission of the Catholic Church, the Sisters of Charity are committed to especially serving the poor and disadvantaged, and have a commitment to social justice and the environment.
The Sisters of Charity’s ministry in today’s world draws strength from a spirituality based on the Christian Scriptures in the tradition dating back to their founder, Mary Aikenhead.
At Marion Catholic Primary School, we encourage our community to live a life of service, engaging in a range of social justice initiatives.
Our Mission
With Jesus and Mary as our model, we are committed to teaching the children by challenging and encouraging them to reach their true potential. We make every effort to achieve this through working in partnership with parents, parish and the wider community.
Our Vision
Marion Catholic Primary School is characterised through:

- Futuristic: We prepare students for success in the world in which they live

Our Motto
We are committed to our school motto: ‘Sowing seeds for success and growing through Mary’s love’.
Our Lady of Victories parish and Marion Catholic Primary School Horsley Park work collaboratively to ensure the spiritual development of each child is nurtured. There is a direct link between the parish and school community through prayer, celebrations and outreach.
The staff work closely with the parish team preparing liturgies and prayer experiences for the children, and the children attend parish Masses regularly each term and celebrate Reconciliation throughout the year. The parish Sacramental program is supported by the school through focus lessons and celebrations.
