At Marion Catholic Primary School Horsley Park, a variety of co-curricular activities are offered to students to participate in such as Archdiocesan sporting events, creative arts performances and lunchtime clubs.

Students may wish to participate in one or many of these activities:

Handball

Handball has been a popular lunch activity for students from Kinder to Year Six. To further develop student skills and engagement in this game there have been multiple courts added to the play spaces all around the school. Handball assists students in building cooperation skills, team work, hand eye coordination and strategy.

Guitar

Students gather together weekly to practice their guitar skills and learn from each other. The guitar club supports the music ministry in our school and parish masses. At special times throughout the year, the guitar club share their talents with the wider community, including; Feast Days, Open Days, Mother’s and Father’s day celebrations.

Gardening

Marion Catholic Primary School won Fairfield City Council ‘School Garden of the Year’ in 2022. Our garden was developed to build an awareness of sustainability and stewardship amongst students. We have multiple vegetable boxes, flower gardens, Australian native bees, chickens and a worm farm. Across the week, students from each grade are invited to work collaboratively, in a fun and natural environment. Students ensure classroom compost bins are brought down and emptied for the chooks, collect any eggs as well as plant, weed and harvest seasonal vegetables. Our sustainability teacher also runs a Garden Art Club where students paint and draw using the inspiration of the natural environment around them.

Choir

The choir is an integral part of student life at Marion. Repertoire includes sacred music for massess and special occasions like Open Day, Feast Days, Mother’s and Father’s Day. Other repertoire includes contemporary and musical theatre hits along with songs that offer uplifting messages. Early in the year, Choir prepares for Sydney Catholic School’s Eisteddfod and in 2023, will be seeking to include themselves in regional performances with Catholic Schools in our region. All choir students belong to a Choir Google classroom and this enables them to access learning materials for home rehearsal. Choir is open to students in Years 3-6. A committent to choir is year by year.
